Located in Moses Lake, Alberta, the Blood Tribe Iitakamotsiipiohsopi Recovery Community supports individuals living with substance use challenges on their journey toward sustainable recovery and wellness. We offer a full continuum of recovery-oriented care within a community-based healing environment, emphasizing personal growth, cultural connection, and long-term well-being.
Our goal is that each person who comes through our doors leaves with strengthened life skills, renewed purpose, and the tools and relationships needed to maintain recovery, restore balance, and reconnect with family, community, and self.
Reporting to the Nursing Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to individuals undergoing addiction treatment. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will assess clients' health needs, develop individualized care plans, and coordinate care delivery to promote optimal outcomes and support long-term recovery.
Role-specific Accountabilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of clients upon admission, including physical, psychological, and substance use history, to develop personalized care plans.
- Administer medications, including detoxification protocols and maintenance medications for opioid use disorder (e.g., methadone, buprenorphine), and monitor clients' response to treatment.
- Monitor clients' vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and other health indicators, and intervene promptly to address any emergent or urgent medical concerns.
- Provide health education and counseling to clients and their families regarding medication management, disease prevention, and self-care practices to support recovery.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and psychoeducational workshops on topics related to health promotion, relapse prevention, and coping skills development.
- Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and client responses accurately and in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings, case conferences, and interdisciplinary team meetings to review client progress, adjust care plans as needed, and ensure continuity of care.
- Conduct regular health screenings and assessments to identify any co-occurring medical conditions or infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, hepatitis) and facilitate referrals for specialized care as appropriate.
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency medical care as needed, including responding to medical emergencies and coordinating transportation to acute care facilities if necessary.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program and current licence with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in addiction treatment, psychiatric/mental health, or behavioral health settings.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to recognize signs and symptoms of substance use disorders, withdrawal syndromes, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Compassionate and nonjudgmental approach to caring for individuals with substance abuse disorders.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and confidentiality.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Successfully complete and pass a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Record Check prior to initiating employment and annually thereafter.

The security guard is responsible for ensuring a safe enviroment for all employees, clientele and visitors. Hours of work consist of Days, Evenings, and Night rotations. Security Staff are consistently faced with complex situations; therefore, Security is required to troubleshoot where needed and/or consult with Team Lead if unable to do so. This also requires incident reports if the situation involves overdose, Barring Policy and/or any involvement with emergency services. Professional & Personal Qualifications:
- 2 to 3 years experience in a high risk environment: health care, low income, homeless shelters, etc.(required)
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Security Guard position (preferred)
- Valid Alberta security License (preferred/ training may be provided)

- Overtime work may be required

Program: Non-Insured Health Benefits – Mobile Medical Unit

Summary of Work:
The Mobile Medical Unit (MMU)/Harm Reduction program focuses on those at risk that have been affected by the opioid crisis. As a member of the MMU team, the LPN is primarily responsible for the coordination and delivery of opioid-agonist therapy and harm reduction education to vulnerable community members both on- and off-reserve. In addition, they will provide distribution and training of naloxone kits and opioid poisoning prevention resources. They will also be tasked with performing other assigned duties such as providing comprehensive assessments, wound interventions, sexual health education and treatments, pre and postnatal care, and general case-management and referrals to other appropriate health services. The licensed practical nurse will provide nursing care by applying nursing practice standards as per the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

SUMMARY OF WORK:
Under the direction of the Director and as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, provide support and assistance to the Clinic Staff.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current CPR certification, to be re-certified annually.
- Current First Aid certification, to be re-certified every three years.
- Current Certification as a Medical Office Assistant.
- Other certification/competencies as required by program/department i.e. WHMIS, PPE, etc.
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Must be self-motivated.
- Compassionate and caring attitude.
- Able to accept direction and feedback.
- Knowledge of the Blackfoot language and culture.
- Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, stressful environment.
- Able to work in a collaborative role within the program.
- Able to deal with multiple service demands.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have strong computer knowledge (word, excel, outlook).
- Must have prior knowledge of working with Electronic Medical Records.

Reporting to: Shelter Coordinator
Program: Lethbridge Wellness Shelter & Stabilization Unit
Summary:
Under the direction of the Shelter Coordinator, the Wellness Monitor is responsible for the wellness and safety of Shelter guests, ensuring guests are safe, respected, feel welcomed, and call the right emergency personnel when required. The Wellness Monitor is also responsible for providing support to the interdisciplinary team where needed. The Wellness Monitor provides respectful and culturally-safe services in a safe and supportive environment, providing social connections and referrals for the clients as required.
Professional & Personal Qualities:
- Must have First Aid training.
- Must have Naloxone/Narcan training.
- Must have NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Certification.
- Must be mature, pleasant, and exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment.
- Education as a Health Care Aide (asset) or in Addictions and Mental Health, or other related Health Sciences is an asset.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Must be able to work evenings, as well as some weekends and holidays.
- Personal experience in recovery from addiction challenge(s), and ability to draw upon wellness and recovery in providing intentional peer support is an asset.
- Must understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries.
- Must understand the issues surrounding homelessness, unemployment, mental health, drug and alcohol dependence and harm reduction.
- Must have demonstrated ability to supervise, monitor, and support clients.
- Must have the ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Must have strong ability to manage stress and organize workload.
- Must possess strong physical and mental ability to perform work task and operate job related equipment.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed and accurate record.

Program: Lethbridge Wellness Shelter & Stabilization Unit (LWS-SU)
Summary:
Security at the Shelter is responsible for ensuring that guests, employees, visitors, service providers and the Shelter premises are safe. The Security personnel patrol the external shelter premises as well as the entrance, ensure guests are safe, and practice life-saving measures such as administering Naloxone or calling 911 as well as observe and keep records of security-related activities.
Professional & Personal Qualities:
- Must have First Aid training.
- Must have Naloxone/Narcan training.
- Must have NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Certification.
- Must be mature, pleasant, and exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment.
- Must understand and maintain guest/worker boundaries.
- Must have the necessary communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective interaction between all persons, including coworkers.
- Must act with integrity and treat all information regarding guests, emergency medical personnel, service providers, employees, and the financial and operational status of the organization as confidential.
- Must be knowledgeable of the roles of the multidisciplinary team.
- A knowledge of community resources is preferred.
- Must be able to set priorities in the face of multiple demands.
- Must be able to function effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Must be able to sit, walk, transfer, lift, carry equipment and supplies.

Summary of Work:
The Custodian keeps the Shelter and Stabilization Units clean, neat and sanitized. The Custodian uses cleaning materials to ensure guest, employee and visitor safety, maintaining equipment and other supplies while dusting, vacuuming, mopping and cleaning restrooms.
Professional & Personal Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum 1 year experience in a housekeeping or custodial role.
- Must have a valid First Aid Certification (preferred/ training may be provided).
- Must have Naloxone/Narcan Training.
- Must have NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Certification.
- WHIMIS
- Must have the ability to work on feet for a complete shift.
- Must be fit and ability to bend, stretch, walk and lift or move things.
