REPORTING TO: Program ManagerSUMMARY OF WORK:
Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to individuals undergoing addiction treatment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the LPN will contribute to the overall well-being and recovery of our clients by administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and providing compassionate support.
PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Graduation from an accredited LPN program and current license with the College for Alberta’s Licensed Practical Nurses (CLHA) as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Previous experience working in addiction treatment or behavioral health settings is preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to recognize signs and symptoms of substance use disorders, withdrawal syndromes, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Compassionate and nonjudgmental approach to caring for individuals with substance abuse disorders.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and confidentiality.
SALARY RANGE:
- Salary Grid as established by BTDH.

REPORTING TO: Program Manager and Support Team LeadSUMMARY OF WORK:
Support Care Worker will assist guiding clients and families through the admissions process, and providing daily support, encouragement, and care as clients participate in recovery programming. Facilitating group and individual activities that respond to recovery needs. Support care worker will also assist with helping the residents follow the structure with in the recovery community.
PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Degree, Diploma or certification in psychology, social work, addictions, nursing, or a related field is an asset; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience in healthcare, addictions recovery, behavioral health, or client admissions is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach.
- Ability to handle sensitive client information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage both client support and administrative duties.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.

Nurse Manager

REPORTING TO: Program ManagerSummary Of Work:
Reporting to the Programs Manager, the highly experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager will oversee and enhance our therapeutic programs and services as well as the medical treatment and care provided to patients at the Recovery Community. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in an addiction recovery setting, along with a deep understanding of therapeutic modalities and client care. The Nurse Manager will also work to ensure continuity of care with community-based healthcare professionals supporting patients pre- and post-treatment. The Nurse Manager will manage a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care and support to our clients.
Professional & Personal Qualifications:
- Degree in nursing from a recognized University.
- Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in Alberta, Canada.
- Must have current registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Must hold a non-restricted license with CRNA
- Have current registration with TPP Alberta is preferred.
- Specialization in psychiatry or addiction medicine is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years in an addiction treatment setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of therapeutic modalities and interventions, especially those relevant to addiction.
- Prior leadership or managerial experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the philosophy and goals of Blood Tribe Recovery Community.
- Strong decision-making skills and judgment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.

Located in Moses Lake, Alberta, the Blood Tribe Iitakamotsiipiohsopi Recovery Community supports individuals living with substance use challenges on their journey toward sustainable recovery and wellness. Our goal is that each person who comes through our doors leaves with strengthened life skills, renewed purpose, and the tools and relationships needed to maintain recovery, restore balance, and reconnect with family, community, and self.
Reporting to the Nursing Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to individuals undergoing addiction treatment. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will assess clients’ health needs, develop individualized care plans, and coordinate care delivery to promote optimal outcomes and support long-term recovery.
Role-specific Accountabilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of clients upon admission, including physical, psychological, and substance use history, to develop personalized care plans.
- Administer medications, including detoxification protocols and maintenance medications for opioid use disorder (e.g., methadone, buprenorphine), and monitor clients’ response to treatment.
- Monitor clients’ vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and other health indicators, and intervene promptly to address any emergent or urgent medical concerns.
- Provide health education and counseling to clients and their families regarding medication management, disease prevention, and self-care practices to support recovery.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and psychoeducational workshops on topics related to health promotion, relapse prevention, and coping skills development.
- Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and client responses accurately and in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings, case conferences, and interdisciplinary team meetings to review client progress, adjust care plans as needed, and ensure continuity of care.
- Conduct regular health screenings and assessments to identify any co-occurring medical conditions or infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, hepatitis) and facilitate referrals for specialized care as appropriate.
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency medical care as needed, including responding to medical emergencies and coordinating transportation to acute care facilities if necessary.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program and current licence with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in addiction treatment, psychiatric/mental health, or behavioral health settings.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to recognize signs and symptoms of substance use disorders, withdrawal syndromes, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Compassionate and nonjudgmental approach to caring for individuals with substance abuse disorders.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and confidentiality.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Successfully complete and pass a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Record Check prior to initiating employment and annually thereafter.
Salary Range:
- In accordance with the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. salary grid.
