SHIFT PATTERN: Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 16:30SUMMARY OF WORK:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role is interdependent and collaborative, working under the direction of the Community Health Nurse, being accountable for his/her own nursing actions. The LPN uses knowledge, skills and attitudes in carrying out the nursing process to provide competent Nursing care. The LPN practices within the (CLPNA) College of Licensed Practical Nurse Association under the Health Professions Act to full scope of practice, the Job Description and policies of the Blood Tribe Department of Health.
PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
- Active Registration and in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- A minimum of one-year current, clinical experience and/or experience or knowledge with working in a Community/Public Health program setting.
- Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
- Current Driver’s License and Class 4 is preferred.
- Immunization Provider Certificate as per CLPNA.
SALARY RANGE:
- In accordance with the BTDH Salary Grid.

Summary of Work:
The Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Resident care while applying nursing practice standards set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Provide appropriate and safe care to Residents, encourage independence and self-care, and performs other duties as requested.
Professional & Personal Qualities:
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta.
- Other certifications/competencies as required by the registering body and the Organization.
- Current BLS certification, to be re-certified annually.
- Current First Aid certification, to be re-certified every three years.
- Have the necessary communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective interaction between all persons, including coworkers.
- Have effective organizational skills.
- Be able and willing to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Ability to:
- Function independently and effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Set priorities in the face of multiple demands.
- Assume responsibility to maintain or improve personal health and well-being.
- Able to provide and receive constructive feedback.
Salary Range:
- In accordance with the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. salary grid.
