PROGRAM: Bringing The Spirit Home, Detox
REPORTING TO:
Nurse Manager

SUMMARY OF WORK:  

The Health Care Aid (HCA), under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, assists, coordinates and provides care by applying HCA Practice Standards set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA); HCAs provide culturally appropriate, high-quality, and safe care to clients in accordance with Blood Tribe Department of Health policies and procedures, scope of practice, and designation. Responsibilities include supporting client health and well-being, providing client education, making referrals to appropriate community services, collaborating with other health agencies, and performing other duties as assigned to meet client and community needs.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
  • Certificate from an approved accredited Health Care Aide program.
  • Current registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta.
  • Computer literacy skills and familiar with various EMR’s.
  • Harm Reduction experience is an asset.
  • STBBI knowledge and experience is an asset.
  • Minimum of two years of experience is an asset.
  • CPR certification renewed annually.
  • Understanding of Blackfoot Culture and Language.
  • Shall be mature, flexible, pleasant and exercise a high degree of initiative and judgement.
  • Must act with integrity and ethics.
  • Must have effective organizational skills.
  • Excellent Critical Thinking skills.
  • Ability to function independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to set priorities in the face of multiple demands.
  • Able to provide and receive constructive feedback.
SALARY RANGE:
  • In accordance with the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. Salary Grid.
